the fabric speaks

i haven’t been doing a lot of personal sewing of late.  there have been samples to make for a few shops who requested them.  and there are some other little projects going on behind the scenes….that we will fill you in on as they reach completion.  but not a lot of personal sewing.  ever since i made the summer jazz dress sample for sew to speak, i’ve been sort of obsessed with wanted one of my own, in a tunic length, from anna maria’s sinister swarm voile.  the fabric was purchased, but it’s just been sitting in the studio waiting for me… just might be the day!

and there are several other cuts of fabric waiting for me too…

DSCN5195this lovely chevron knit was supposed to become a tee of some sort, but recently i’ve heard it calling to me to make it into a maxi skirt.  this summer has been rather cool and what could be better on a cool summer evening than a maxi?

DSCN5197this picture refused to rotate….so you’ll have to!!  i’m not exactly sure what this fabric is, but it’s sheer and has a bit of stretch to it….it’s going to grow up to be a paloma top.  and yes, i’ll wear a cami underneath!!

and this sunny knit dot also wants to be a summer jazz top.  it’s a cotton jersey and i think it’s going to make a fun top for summer.

so, now that the fabrics have spoken, it’s time to head to the studio to make their dreams come true!  what are you making this summer?  or are you already looking ahead to fall/winter sewing?

i leave you with yet another pic of the sweet little man, samuel (and of course his mama!!).

don’t forget to tell your friends about the quilt giveaway!!!  elizabeth will be randomly choosing a winner on monday…..someone is about to get very lucky!!
